ABOUT US
Desh Care International is a Kenyan non-profit, operating various charitable initiatives in Kenya. We were formed in 2019 and registered in 2020 by Dennis Mavia, a graduate of Daystar University and a beneficiary of the Mully Children’s Family home.
Desh Care initiatives focus on under-served people, primarily in the Kibera and Athi River slums, providing education, sanitary supplies, clean water and other basic needs.
These areas safeguard the rights, well-being, dignity, and development of these communities. Desh Care International is currently supporting over 500 girls, monthly, through the provision of sanitary products. Our Elimisha Initiative provides education for 11 children. Our motto of “Spreading Love and Care” drives us in everything we do as we address many opportunities for critical intervention.
Desh Care International works with specific target groups, which we see fit in archiving our mission and visions. the groups include
- Teen/ child mothers
- Children forced into early marriages
- Orphans
- Youths
- Young boys and girls – from age 10 to 25
OUR MISSION
To empower communities through education and the provision of clean water, sanitation, health and hygiene.
OUR VISION
We are dedicated to providing basic needs for under-served people and create sustainable communities and empowered individuals.
OUR WORK
Through our work, girls get free monthly supply of sanitary supplies thus keeping them in school. Families have access to clean water from water donation and water filters and needy students have access to education opportunities.
Young Girls:
- We have distributed over 12500 sanitary products to date, serving hundreds of young girls without cost or obligation.
- Girls do not have to miss school because of their monthly cycle. Our consistent provision of these products keeps girls focused on their education.
- Girls are empowered through social support. We provide a safe place for them to ask professionals important questions and learn about their bodies. They do not have to trade their bodies to get sanitary supplies. We are confident this will lower teen pregnancies.
Children:
- To date, we have provided education for 12 children through our scholarships.
- We built a dining hall for Mulandi Primary School in AthiRiver. Prior to the completion of this structure, students had to eat on the ground.
- Donated 10 handwashing station to Mulandi primary school
Families:
- Through our water and sanitation project, over 500 families have benefited from clean water, and 20 more families have received free water filters.
- Families have access to clean water, and a healthy alternative to drinking from contaminated surface water sources. Families can prevent water-related illnesses.
